Community meetings: Participated in the male-specific community meetings and observed sharing in the counseling experience from the clients and the lead counselor. Learned skills such as agenda-setting, highlighting session expectations/ rules, and blocking.

Educational Counseling: Participated in individual, group, and family information dissemination to educate individuals on the addictive brain, developmental perspectives on addiction, and systemic multi-cultural, social-ecological perspectives relating to mental health disorders. Knowledge obtain was grouped in the disease model of addiction, effects of drug of choice and substance misuse, and basic clinical interventions.

Group Counseling: Observed empathy and support offered throughout the group counseling process. The two forms of groups (“Big group” and “Small group”) equally benefited the client’s growth through their pain and fostered a path to healing. The small group was specific in assisting the client’s developing their existing skills in dealing with interpersonal problems.
